Using the broad range of Jacquard Products available in the store this lecture demo with Celia Buchanan explores the diverse and fascinating world of Surface Design and Fine Art Surface patterning techniques.
This is an opportunity to experience the products first hand, expand and diversify your skills through an introduction to this varied medium.
Using Jacquard dyes, paints, pigments and waxes the lecture demo can cover a wide range of techniques such as silk and fabric painting, solar, block and screen printing, water-media and acrylic mixed media painting, batik, encaustic mixed media, shibori and indigo dyeing.
The presentation concentrates on the fine art and surface design applications of the techniques in an
introduction to this wonderful, rich and complex medium. Also exploring how Jacquard's products interact with many other artist supplies.
Celia Buchanan is a mixed media artist and holds a B.A. in 2-D surface design from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee, Scotland, and an M.A. in arts management in education from the City University, London.
Celia's work has been featured in galleries notably the Institute of Education, London, National Exhibition Center, U.K. and The London Design Center. The author of several books and magazine articles on surface design and fiber-arts,
Celia has been working in her field for over two decades.
She now works and lives in SE FL, teaches throughout the USA and works as a materials consultant for art material manufacturers from Europe, Australia and the United States.
